9.00am—Depart your Crookwell accommodation and head on out to Taralga via Laggan, taking your time to enjoy the countryside in the morning light.

9.45am—Depart Taralga, having grabbed your picnic supplies at either the Grand Ettie Café or the Tangled Vine Café, and head on out to the Wombeyan Caves for a guided cave tour at 10.30am.

1.00pm—After exploring the underworld, you will definitely need to find a shady spot in the valley to enjoy your picnic before heading back to Taralga.

2.30pm—Arrive at Taralga Wildlife Park to meet and greet a terrific collection of native and exotic animals, including waterfowl, parrots, wombats, dingos, emus, wallabies, deer, donkeys, miniature horses and many more.

You could visit the Alpaca Farm Experience and learn how alpacas are actually good for the land, hand feed the herd and observe their cheeky behaviour. It’s a great opportunity to learn all about alpacas and the Australian alpaca industry.

Or you could step back in time and imagine life ‘in the olden days’ at the excellent Taralga Historical Society Museum.

Or visit Tuena to learn about the gold rush and bushrangers, while trying your hand at fossicking!

Explore Wyangala Dam from the Reflections Grabine Lakeside Holiday Park, or go bushwalking in the Abercrombie River National Park while camped nearby at the Bumaroo Ford campsite...
