Full Day—Discovering History

Walk in the footsteps of both the indigenous peoples of this land and the early pioneers as you explore the many natural and man-made wonders of the Upper Lachlan region. The indigenous Wiradujuri, Gundungurra and Ngannawal people appear to have used the region as travelling routes, however with its proximity to the early colony and its strategic location, the area was experiencing permanent European settlement within 20 years of the First Fleet. Arable land and reliable rainfall remain at the heart of our region and are reflected in much of the built and natural environment. When you add gold and silver, major transport routes and country ingenuity, famous authors and famous bushrangers you have a wonderful tapestry of stories with hidden gems everywhere—literally!
